I have just got in from work Shirley and opened up my blog to see your wonderful illustration! SO sweet. Great carrot base for them to land on too. I loved the Jetson's and the Flintstone's, I think they came from the same studio? Such totally timeless humour! Take care, Jane x
Yes! This is a cutie patootie transport unit. Ooooh! I love it. Shirley, don't laugh, but were you a bald baby? I would like to personally invite you to joint the BBB Club. Bella is president so, that will give you an idea. Heheheheh!
I love the jetsons and these are just the cutest illos ever! haha! i love the little carrot house in the clouds. your watercolor really brings the whole thing to life.
The Jetsons was actually my favorite show! ha ha. Great idea and really beautiful watercolor work. The carrot house is so clever. thank you for your sweet words, today! They mean a lot to me. xxoo
haha I did love the jetsons!!!!!! This is sooooo cute! I love the little carrot house! And the gorgeous expression on wee bunnies face! (Thanks for your visit.. It has been a long time ..I've missed your cute little people!) hmmm.. I was hoping to do transportation ..I'll have to see....:)
Hee hee! This is the coolest! Thanks for making us smile out here in blogland with your cheerful art! The theme song is now playing in my head - I'll be happily humming "Meet George Jetson..." all day today! Now, can you send Rosie over? Wouldn't that be great to have a robot to help with the housework? Happy Monday to you! :o)
full of cuteness and softness as usual! great job my dear! i loved that transportation system too and i though we would drive flying cars in year 2000!!! hahahha! i was soooo innocent!
Oooooo!!! That little carrot house is just the cutest little cottage ever! (Ha... I wrote that and then looked at the other comments-- seems everybody loves the carrot house--good job!)You are superbly talented, Shirley!!
Put another one down for the carrot house! Hey Shirley! You really made my evening. My anticipation grew as I clicked on your thumbnail. I love the surprise you always have hiding behind it. This is delightful. Full of fun! I always thought Elroy was cool. I wanted gadgets and robots like he had. I always thought that when I grew up, we'd be flying in our cars. I'm still waiting :o) Thanks for turning on the Shirley light this evening. You made my day! so clever and talented you are.
yes, the Jetsons rock and so does this illustration. What a fun idea, love the carrot house too. I'm like Jack I thought the Jetsons lifestyle was the future we would see when we grew up. The Shirley light, that's so cute!
Gosh you all just rock, thank you for making MY day/everyone, with your wonderfully generous visits. I really appreciate it!! I'll be popping by to all of you whom I haven't visited today. Aww, you all really know how to make a gal feel great. Thank you my friends!! Go Jetsons! I agree..wouldn't it be awesome to have those cars and Rosie's too? : )
This is super delicious and cool!!! I so love these beautiful little ones in their fantastic spaceship!!! OMG I wish i were in there with them. This is simply divine and so much FUN, FUN, FUN!!!! You are just coming out of the box altogether with gorgeous illustrations and artwork. With each and every post you show something fresh and new and even more exciting! I am in constant awe of your delightful work Shirley. It's so transformative and uplifting and imaginative. ALL I can say is," Keep 'em coming Girly!" I am loving everything single thing you do. Love ya V
Haha ha Shirley, well you and Jack make me crack up. The way you think a like, so cute, but so serious. Oh the joy of being not in control! The Jetson's, yes I had the dog tattooed in my left ankle, when I was eighteen. My friends think I was mad. Me, I don't know...
I sure remember the Jetsons (and their cool modes of transportation!) Yours is adorable! I haven't been posting (or visiting) much lately, so I read some of your previous posts that I had missed and wanted to comment on your post about the conference you attended. First, thank you for your detailed description, I find these smaller conferences very informative and a great way to connect with other illustrators. I like the format of this one, lots of opportunities for illustrators to get feedback on their work.
But I also wanted to let you know that I think your work is terrific: cute indeed, but also warm, delicate, creative and charming. I've been to events similar to yours, where one has a chance to have a portfolio review or some one on one time with an agent or art director. And it is a personal thing, for sure. I could see how my work just didn't seem to resonate with some of them. I would show the same material to two different people and get very different reactions. So Vanessa is right, keep doing what you love -- you can see by all the comments you get how much people enjoy your work! It's just a matter of time until you find the right agent/editor/art director!
Hi Shirley, I wanted to ask you some questions about watercolor. I wanted to buy some watercolors and then when I bought the brush, one of them cost $120.00!!! Are the brushes that expensive? Ugh! Is these something less expensive for a beginner? Wishing you a good week.
HA! I LOVE this! The Jetsons Shirley-ized. I've been away too long again and I want to comment on everything I missed, but I will say you R-O-C-K. I love it all! Have a great weekend!
