    I have just got in from work Shirley and opened up my blog to see your wonderful illustration! SO sweet. Great carrot base for them to land on too.
    I loved the Jetson's and the Flintstone's, I think they came from the same studio? Such totally timeless humour!

    The Jetsons was actually my favorite show! ha ha. Great idea and really beautiful watercolor work. The carrot house is so clever.

    Put another one down for the carrot house! Hey Shirley! You really made my evening. My anticipation grew as I clicked on your thumbnail. I love the surprise you always have hiding behind it. This is delightful. Full of fun! I always thought Elroy was cool. I wanted gadgets and robots like he had. I always thought that when I grew up, we'd be flying in our cars.     I sure remember the Jetsons (and their cool modes of transportation!) Yours is adorable!
    I haven't been posting (or visiting) much lately, so I read some of your previous posts that I had missed and wanted to comment on your post about the conference you attended. First, thank you for your detailed description, I find these smaller conferences very informative and a great way to connect with other illustrators. I like the format of this one, lots of opportunities for illustrators to get feedback on their work.

    But I also wanted to let you know that I think your work is terrific: cute indeed, but also warm, delicate, creative and charming. I've been to events similar to yours, where one has a chance to have a portfolio review or some one on one time with an agent or art director. And it is a personal thing, for sure. I could see how my work just didn't seem to resonate with some of them. I would show the same material to two different people and get very different reactions. So Vanessa is right, keep doing what you love -- you can see by all the comments you get how much people enjoy your work! It's just a matter of time until you find the right agent/editor/art director!

    Hi Shirley, I wanted to ask you some questions about watercolor. I wanted to buy some watercolors and then when I bought the brush, one of them cost $120.00!!! Are the brushes that expensive? Ugh! Is these something less expensive for a beginner? Wishing you a good week.
