Shirley, just when I think your illustrations can't be any more amazing, you post this beauty! These characters are all so adorable. I love them! I think you were the shy student! I was the extrovert, I'm afraid. And I was also told I talked to much in class. hee hee! Thank you for making me smile with this cute bunch! :)
I LOVE THIS DRAWING!!! Oooooohhh! I always feel for the shy student. I was shy, my daughter was shy in grade school, she always had a small group of friends composed of shy (but smart students :)) My son was shy during the first days but made many friends soon. I was a shy student but I never hesitated when asked by the teacher or never hesitated to fight back when that bully took my bag and opened it in front of the class and made fun of me. Bam! He got 14 stitches in his scalp. Never underestimate shy people. :) Heheheh.
Adorable!!... Moi? I was the shy one, of course... the one who got red cheek each time to teacher would dare ask me a question!! :) Illustrators are often the quiet ones... the ones making little doodle on the side page... :) Love your illustration, very whimsical and sweet...plus... it brings me back to that time.
Very cute! It reminds me of my school days. I was the shy introverted one too (I still am I guess)... to give a speech in front of the class, that was the worst :D
Yeah, that's me sweatin' it out in the back of the room. Probably math period. I used to flip my desk top up so the teacher couldn't see me reading my Hardy Boys books. This is a great illustration, Shirley. Really drew me in.
I was very quiet and small for my age, but stood up for what I thought was right, even agains bullies! I never quite understood what teachers wanted from me in my work... that confusion continued through all school years. But I did enjoy school.
Perfectly cheerful and lovely little classroom! Such seemingly effortless and wonderful perspective. I have a feeling that poor little struggling puppy will get plenty of help from the teacher as soon as he gets a moment.
(I am not in this picture because none are scowling. I'm pretty sure I had a semi-permanent scowl for grade school through high school. Fortunately I've *mostly* left it behind.)
What sweeties these are Shirley. I would have been in the back row at school as I never wanted to sit in the front but I always enjoyed school and used to get away with making the teachers giggle with some of my comments....not sure how but I did ;0) I don't think would have been in this picture as you would have been in the art class..... drawing ...;0) Jane x
I'm guessing you were the cutest, most artistic student hiding behind your hair? Love this illo! It's sweet but pulls the heart strings in an emotional way. Love it!
Hey Ms. Shirley! So glad to see the fabulousness is still going on in one of my favorite parts of the blogosphere! I was definitely a front row, right student! Always in the front of the class.
Hope everything is going well for you. Have a great day and evening!
Insecure...but I always stood up to a bully and sat in the front of the class.
ReplyDeleteOh - and I love this shy little piece. So cute.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I was kind of the teacher's pet type at that age---not so good for popularity...
ReplyDeleteShirley--You must have an endless supply of CUTE! This is absolutely adorable.
