Mônica Carnesi's "Little Dog Lost"..what a delight!

Have you heard the true story of a brave dog named Baltic? Little Dog Lost, written and illustrated by the very talented Mônica Carnesi is a warmly told and beautifully illustrated book that will draw you in from the very moment you see it.

Mônica recently sent me this gorgeous book with postcard and a coloring page of Baltic (super cute and fun, Mônica!), the little dog who in January, 2012 was seen floating on an ice floe on the Vistula River near the city of Grudziadz, Poland, 60 miles inland from the Bay of Gdansk in the Baltic Sea. Mônica's tender illustrations deliver the feel of the vast landscape of the cold Baltic Sea and you cannot help but feel the drama build as you worry about the sweet little dog who is lost at sea.

I highly recommend this book and so do my daughters! Thank you Mônica, for sending me your beautiful book to add to my collection, of which I will cherish through the years. You are such a talented author and illustrator and such a wonderful friend.

You can check out Mônica's website at the link above, or keep up with her recent posts at her blog here.

And you can visit here for links to purchase your copy of Little Dog Lost.

  3. Oh, Shirley, thank you so much! I'm so glad you and your daughters like it -- it means A LOT to me! I got the idea for the coloring paper doll from my boss at the library who is a paper doll collector. I saw pictures of the real Batlic wearing a life jacket, so I thought it would be fun to make a paper doll of Baltic and life jacket as a giveaway.

Thanks again, Shirley -- you are such a great and generous friend!

  5. Yes! Did they make a movie about it? Is it the dog with the statue in Central Park, N.Y.C.? Such a darling illustration. I like simple lines like those. Oh, it is Wednesday already. My goodness! I need to get some sleep. :)
