Japan on my mind..

on this night of the "supermoon", I wanted to post a new painting that I did while watching the breaking news of the disasater in Japan. I wanted to paint a symbol of strength for Japan..the Japanese Crane, maple tree, and the moon. I hope that it conveys a sense of hope.

In my small way, and with your support, I am donating 100% of the proceeds of sales of a print of this piece to the Red Cross in support of their relief efforts in Japan.

Thanks for your kind visits everyone..it is always wonderful to hear from you. I've been swamped this month, but hope to get back to blogging more regularly in April. I hope you all are well, healthy, happy, safe.

  6. It's so beautiful Shirley. I've been absent because my daughter and I are doing a Tie Dye project to raise money for Japan and two other charities. My hands are perpetually covered in dye. LOL, I tried to get a good view of the Super Moon too, but alas, it was covered by clouds. It was really beautiful the night before though. It was a flood of shimmering light, we even cast shadows at midnight. It was very cool.
Your illustration will make a wonderful contribution to Japan and no stained hands. ;) It's really lovely.

  7. This is so beautiful! Disasters are true egalitarians. They don't care if a country is affluent or poor. It will destroy and kill and the pain and sorrow are felt by rich and poor alike.

Last week I was on vacation and I ate a napoleon!!! OMG, it was so sinful!!!

  18. I love the red-crested crane and it is often the subject of my etegami. You chose well for a symbol of Japan. It's a beautiful picture.
