Star gazing...and lasso'ing the moon.

I just happen to LOVE Pink's song, Glitter in the Air....any other fans out there?
I am definitely in need of practice when it comes to opaque watercolors...this was a challenge!
Have a great week everyone!

  1. Hey Shirley!! Woo Hoo I'm the first comment this week! I feel special. Pink would be thrilled with your interpretation! Love the elegance of your star catcher. She is lovely. I think you nailed the opaque watercolors. I had to zoom way in to appreciate the wonderful strokes and colors. Another fanderbulous (fantastic, wonderful and fabulous) illustration!

PS: I love Jack's 'fanderbulous'!! Hahaha, better contact Longman and make sure it's included in their next dictionary edition!! Hehehee...

You are just sooo talented. I know I keep saying that but it's the truth! I get that awwwww shucks feeling every time I visit here. Your characters make me swoon and sometimes even bring tears to my eyes with their sweetness!

  7. Hi Shirley. Thanks for your comment. Your IF is beautiful ..
I like a lot and seems very well painted.
You told me that you have a problem with the lights. I do not see any problem.
You manage the color with a very subtle way. Maybe with touches of strong colors in shadows, you could remove sweetness to your work. I do not know if that would be appropriate.
Anyway always good to investigate and advance our work. But never stop being ourselves.
    Kisses.

  8. This is a gorgeous piece. :) I think the colors are dazzling. When I saw the snippet of the moon, I immediately thought of It's a Wonderful Life. Just exquisite. I'm not too familiar with that Pink song, but I'll check it out. Theresa

  17. Oh me too! Sometimes I don't even know what I am doing with my art! Sometimes I just stare into a drawing and squiggle and line absentmindedly. Most often when I draw acorns, my mind id wandering and busy with thoughts.

  24. Pink is awesome, she rocks!!! Even my kiddies like her! Your calligraphy is devine...I've been trying to come up with a new logo forever, and can't find a font that is just right, you should consider releasing a font just like Crystal Kluge....seriously, yours is just as beautiful!!!!! That is such a great skill...something I wish I could master but with being left handed, calligraphy has always been difficult for me.
I also really love your use of that wonderful deep blue! Gorgeous and so serene!! Another beauty Shirley!
BTW, I finally got my illustration linked to your WLTIFC group blog(a little late -opps) hope everyone enjoys it. :)
