Pencil sketch - colorized

Trying something new here in Photoshop...I wanted to see if I could use the actual pencil sketch and add color, and so here is what I came up with. I'm trying to add my lettering to the background to add a little depth, but this attempt seems a bit harsh..I'm thinking if I tone down the color or intensity of the texture, it might help make the face "pop" more..what do you think?
Thanks for visiting!!

  1. I think it looks great but sometimes you wont know if it could look even better until you mess with the color! I still like your hand painted illos the best, just because I like hand made illustrations in general. Oh and thank you for commenting back! I do not think I have enough work built up yet for submissions either. We can do it!! ^_^ I think being an illustrator would be such an awesome job!

  2. I really love how this came out. The letter in front may be a bit harsh. What you can do is change the opacity to a % to tone the lettering down. This should be done before you merge all your layers together. Photoshop is the type of program were you just have to play with it and try different things, Iv'e been working with photoshop for ever 10 years and I'm still learning new things.
