Emily Lost Someone She Loved, by Kathleen Fucci

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you the fact that the third Thursday of November (November 20th) is observed as National Children's Grief Awareness Day. I apologize for the delay in this post, but wanted to properly share with you this wonderful project that I am completely honored to be working on with Kathleen and Kristina Fucci, of Kathleen Fucci Ministries.

Emily Lost Someone She Loved, is the first book in their Hope4Kids in Crisis series, a series of picture books designed to bring God's hope and healing to children who face traumatic life-experiences. Topics for the series include bereavement, divorce and disabilities.

The Backstory
I am the mother of three children whose birth mother died of cancer when they were young. When I met them, they were ages twelve, ten and eight, all grieving in very different ways. I have seen first hand the pain and confusion that accompanies childhood loss. But I have also seen the healing that can take place when children begin to understand who Jesus is and how much He loves them. By using our family's personal experience as a foundation, I hope this book will be a refuge for grieving children to express their sorrow, to feel understood in all their pain and to come to know that God is their ultimate source of comfort, healing, hope and joy here on earth, as well as in heaven.

  1. Shirley, I just read this, visited the site adn learned about them , watched your little book trailer and am sitting here, wiping snot and tears from my face. It is so incredibly touching and sweet and wonderful too. You are the PERFECT artist for them. You have such a way with drawing the innocence and utter swettness of childhood. When I think of Emily losing her mom, or whoever, I cant; help but be moved. A perfect verse at the end too. They did a great job..as indeed is their--beautiful. Now that is what I call a worthy fulfilling mission. I plan to support them. thank you for doing this for them and letting all know about the book. I/we pray it only touches deeply those children in such crises.

BTW, you need to fix the URL link to Kathleen Fucci Ministries.you have an extra "t" in there so it in not working.

Thank you and bless you for your service, light and love here. I will definitely promote it on my art twitter and creative Tuesdays art co op blog once it is ready to be released. your work is already so inspiring. I'm so glad this ministry and you connected. Beautiful. i hope it all goes well and you get clear vision how to depict the various scenes.

  2. Oh I think you are going to do a marvellous Job here Shirley. I had a very good friend who passed away leaving 3 girls, one older and twins, I am sure just such a book you are creating would have helped them, lovely illustrations :)
