Patching in here and there..

Internet update: Still without the internet, so I'm patching in at the local coffee shop. Strange how you can get used to this..even my youngest said that "technology makes people less interested in each other, and they don't interact as much." Talk about wisdom! She notices that people spend so much time looking at a device that they don't really "talk" with each other anymore. This time away from the computer has been eye-opening. It's hard, for sure, to not have access, but I am making do. They say it'll be another 2-5 days, but we'll see...keeping fingers crossed. : )

My daughter's teen play - painted floor update: So the floor is complete..and it's at the playhouse and looks pretty great, though with so many pairs of shoes, it's quite dusty and smudged, but hopefully on opening night, we'll sit back and enjoy the view. : ) The funny thing is that my littlest and I are now in charge of the entire backdrop (to match the floor). We are almost done with that too. I will post some pics once I get them ready. What a job, but it's worth it to help the community playhouse. The kids seem to really enjoy it already and that's been a huge plus. They are such a great bunch of teenagers!

Book project update: we've got revisions and research to do, but we are plugging away..and are enthusiastic about it's progress.

I leave you with a little illo. Introducing little gray mouse. More to come. Hope everyone is well! Thank you for your kind visits! ~ Shirley

  1. I love the little gray mouse and all your wonderful insight about internet/technology. I agree and have seen a huge difference in my own teen now that we've unplugged cable and set restrictions on the phone when it is family time.
Thanks so much for your lovely visit to my blog this week. Have a great one.

  2. Your daughter is very wise and smart but I am not surprised. I think more and more teens are realizing that being online is boring. My son, no longer a teen does not use the computer except to order online. He uses his phone and ipod but not even at home. He interacts and keeps busy. My daughter reads and studies a lot and also goes out with friends a lot. She chats online once in a while. I am the only one who uses the computer a lot because it is my work. I try not to be online socialy as much. I don't visit many blogs anymore just a few and I can count on one hand. I hope you get your connection back. You need it for your work. You have been very busy!!! I am typing this on my phone :)

  5. Oh, he is so cute! So sorry you are still having internet woes. Mine is still in and out too :( You're daughter is so right. My son was so upset having to go without the internet for days but now that it's back, he isn't on it as much as he was before. I think he decided that he liked our company more than he'd previously thought ;D

  6. Ooh, what a cutie patootie! I am marveling at the way you made his head look perfectly furry!

I can't wait to see your stage set. Whoaaaa, I've never worked on anything larger than a piece of paper. And hooray for making progress on the book!

Disconnecting can be a wonderful thing sometimes. Take care, Shirley! :)
