Copycat! Bee's been ripped off...

Dear blog buddies - today, my friend Bee (Belinda Strong) let us (the gals at WeLovetoIllustrate.com) know that her design of "Mister Fox" is being blatantly ripped off. Here is her beautiful design:Bee's Mister Fox,

and here is the ripoff:

Who knows how much this person has sold at her store!...

Bee is contacting the copycat and would like to let everyone know that this is something not to tolerate. She also is posting at Gemma Correll's Facebook page Designers-and-Illustrators-Against-Plagiarism.

I wanted to post about this because this just is not going to be tolerated or sat down for..we are hoping to just bring this to light and hope these efforts will stop copycats from stealing...thanks for visiting and do let us know if you've had this same problem, and any suggestions on how to remedy it..,
Shirley

  1. This is disgusting! That person from Munich has the image embedded in so many items. I hate the Internet. So many lowlives smooching and preying on others. Bad karma!!!

  2. Oh Shirley, this is horrible! I can't think of anything more upsetting in your line of work, than to have your illustrations stolen! I'm glad Bee is going through the channels to stop the copy cat in his or her tracks. What a lack of ethics! Here's hoping this situation gets resolved quickly and effectively!

  3. Oh, that is just awful. On a positive note the internet does force a liar's hand. If it weren't for the nets exposure who knows how long this could have gone on. I hope your friend gets some speedy resolution.

  6. Shirley, unfortunately I know several other artists who have found out their lovely characters are being used by other ''artists'' in their shops, selling them as their own products-horrible! I don't know what is someone suppose to do when that happens. Maybe spread the word about them publicly is the best thing...at least it'll ruin their credibility, I don't know....wishing ur friend best of luck in this situation!

  14. It hurts the creator so much when something like this happens.
I hope a cease and desist notice is enough to stop further abuse and instigate removal of all copyright protected work!
Another place to expose such abuse is:

  16. Hi friends, many thanks for visting! It looks promising that Bee has successfully stopped the seller from offering her Mister Fox...we will check out her shop peridically to make sure she has stopped for good, but as of today, it looks like her shop is closed for the time being. YAY for BEE!!
