"Just checkin'!," Petunia said spying their shadows as she walked home
with Petey, her faithful pup. Petunia and Petey loved playing
'til the sun went down.
Very nice, Shirley. How do you control the wetness of your watercolours? I struggle with that. I know I'm just a beginner but really wanting to learn. :) You're such an inspiration. Hugs
When I saw the word shadows I expected something a bit dark/forebearing, but only you Shirley could breath such vibrant light and life into the shadows here. Gorgeous! Jane x
Hidihodi oh your characters are so aptly named, and you have captured 'joy' once again (as long as her family doesn't find out).... :)
Okay that's silly, totally unlike me. But really, what a wonderful and delightful artist you are - you always bring a warm smile to my face - and so does your art ;)
Aaaawww! Shirley, dearest. I like how the little girl is trying to create a big shadow. Do you remember doing that when you were little? My siblings and I would do that, The joys we had from games that did not cost a dime, just required a lot of imagination. These days I lament the rage of online games and contacts. We have become cyborgs. Hey, have you heard of Behance? Maybe you can build an online portfolio? There are so many professional children's books illustrators over there, quite an amazing array but I have a tendency to get lost. Of course there is also a lot of "art" I do not care much about, over there. Hehehe. I hope you are having a wonderful evening and hope your weekend is great! Thank you for your kind words. Just in case I become anonymous again (I don't know why sometimes I am anonymous), this is Ces.
Oh SHIRLEY! This is the perfect picture of a summer day! I remember playing until the sun went down, not wanting the fun to ever end. And the long shadows! Ooooh, how funny they looked. Good times, good times. I love the playful sway in her ponytails and the spirit in their steps. What a great watercolor!!!
And I love your new blog header!!! So whimsically beautiful. That purple hat's for me, isn't it. :D
Ohhhhhhhhhhh my God! I love your illustrations so much, this is soooo sweet :) Your work makes me think of my childhood and it evokes thinks that I didn't remember until I see this... episodes, smells, sounds, very old pet friends... sigh! hehe! you are awesome... you know that? :)
OOOOh Shirley, My but it's been a long time. I am still here buried beneath a ton of boxes and slowly digging out. When I'm not unpacking I am trying to figure out North Carolina! It's beautiful, but your illustration is more beautiful. I really love the warmness I feel from this illustration. I love the girl sweeping as well. She is wonderful. You've got her movements prefect! Great job you did on this. Is she someone in a story? I am very interested to know he hehe he he! Hope that you are doing well and that you are creating whatever is in your head and heart. Okay, back to my rock. Catch you later my friend. Thinking of you today! Hugs V
