Wow Shirley, this is great, no really, I am not just saying some tired cliche, it is really great. First of all, it looks like the classic watercolor which I can't do diddly squat, so I am always impressed when I see a good watercolor painting. Secondly, this looks nostalgic. For some reason, this reminded me of Nevada. The horse is so beautifl. Do you know that I cannot draw animals from memory with a pen but I can with brush when I oil paint? I don't kbow why that is. I have to have several reference photos of animals when I draw them in ink but none in oil paints! Have a great week. Tsup!
I can feel the dusty dry heat, this is beautiful and just what I need with the fresh snowfall I woke up to this morning. Happy New Year Shirley, it really has been too long. (I am totally honored that you have Pirate Potty in your collection).
very nice! and thanks for stopping by my blog, I also love the post you had early January of the girl doing taichi, I tried that myself a year ago and loved it but just can't seem to make it a regular practice yet. -Andrea
Wow Shirley! This is wonderful! Really wonderful! Great perspective and such a wonderful old-western dusty-trail feel to it! Hey thanks for stopping by! You’re the best!!! :o)
Haha well I was going to say :"Wow" but Ces and jack beat me too it. So I will say "Woo' - which is almost the same as wow but more refined :)
Yes Ces is right, the watercolourist is a different beast - and you are mistress of the watercolour - so you are mistress of the beast and I am digging a deep hole :) .....
heh. Love this, so delicate and light and aery. Everything a watercolour should be. :)
Beautiful illustration Shirley! The close up is showing the difficult angle of the horse and you have done it really well. Thank you for your comment. I have posted little similar thought on the topic.
Shirley - This is such a sweet piece. You can feel the connection between the boy and his horse. And it makes me thirsty - you definitely captured dusty ; )
Oh, wow. This makes me think of somewhere I've never been before but I think I know exactly what it feels like. If that makes sense? I class that as a good sign of a fantastic illustration!
The color and style are just perfect to capture the theme! Enjoyed going back and viewing a few of your older blog entries that I missed. Congratulations on finishing your sketchbook project. I think they'll be visiting Portland Maine (not too far from here) next year, so hope to get to see them.
Thank you for your comment! Judging from this long list, I can see that I'm not alone in thinking that your "Dusty" is one of my favorites this week. I've just explored your beautiful websites. As a former graphic designer, I could tell that you have a graphics background even before I read it in your bio. Your enchanting web pages are beautifully laid out and a pleasure to peruse. I'm a fellow Bay Area gal - isn't this weather gorgeous? :)
